Global property and construction consultancy Gleeds has announced the addition of two new directors to its London project management division. John Barnett and Ed Horne, both formerly of Avison Young Project Management, have joined the firm to spearhead growth in the company’s major London projects sector.
This strategic expansion follows the earlier appointments of Craig Ward and Andrew Todman, who also transitioned from Avison Young to Gleeds earlier in the year. With these additions, Gleeds has significantly enhanced its 40-strong project management team, bringing decades of combined experience to the table.
With more than three decades in the construction industry, Horne brings a wealth of experience in both new build and refurbishment projects. His expertise spans commercial and residential sectors, with a particular focus on West End office development. Horne’s portfolio includes high-profile projects such as 18-20 Hanover Square (Bond Street East Over Station Development), Rio Tinto’s HQ at 5-6 St James’s Square and Heron Tower.
John Barnett’s 25-year career began as a chartered architect before moving into project management. His diverse experience includes design and project management roles, often involving secondments to client organisations. He’s led major projects including Battersea Power Station, One Nine Elms and One Hyde Park.
Gleeds’ project management division has been experiencing steady growth, backed by significant investment from the company. Current projects and clients include commercial development at 40 Leadenhall, EDF Properties and the Department for Education.
Richard Steer, chair of Gleeds Worldwide, said, “It’s fantastic to introduce this newly completed team which will truly help our project management team in London to reach another level. John and Ed both bring unparalleled experience and knowledge built up over their respective careers, and our clients will benefit enormously from their guidance and support in delivering challenging projects.”
